Our research is devoted to the concept “head” in Russian and Chinese language pictures of the world. It is one of the oldest concepts of the mankind, reflecting mind and intellectual capacity – internal qualities to estimate people. The present work aims at annalysing the etymology of the word “head” and a modern understanding of this concept in Chinese and Russian languages, at comparing them; at exploring Russian and Chinese phraseology, proverbs and lyrics. The concept “head” is the basic concept for Russian and Chinese languages. As the most important part of the human body, mind receptacle place, of course, it is one of the main concepts in any language, culture and every human being. It is reflected in sayings, phraseologisms and songs of every nation.
